Initially Gikindu was under Maragua Parish. In 1982 Scc were established and Gikindu fell under the patronage of St. Mark. During the prayer meetings members found that some of the members were unable to attend Sunday Masses in Maragua local church due to old age and sickness. To address the problem members decided to look for piece of land on which they could construct a church.
They assigned the work to the executive who in turn approached one of the Mwaki members Mr. Joseph Muthubira. He accepted to sell the plot at Kshs. 30,000. The executive sent the late Mr. Harrison Karathi Gitene, who was by then a member of Parish council in Ichagaki Parish, because maragua was under Ichagaki Parish. Fr. Guido Motter accepted the request and gave blessings to the members as they collect funds.
When the funds was enough for the parchase of the land, Fr. Motter sent the late Mr. Harrison Karathi and the seller ti the land control board for legal transactions. The church was constructed where it is and in the year 2002 members were releaved to go to maragua for mass and in the year 2003 June 29th, first anniversary mass was celebrated.
